Early May 2009 and the season is well under way since March. Southern Africa generally had a lot of rain in the rainy season that just ended in March. Everything was green and lush till late March. Things have started to turn yellow through April and winter is setting in fast. It looks like we are in for a cold one!!
Below is Niels Moses with some beautiful trophies under which an exceptional RW Eland bull!
We started out our season with return clients Niels & Inge Moses and Bent & Maiken Mortensen from Denmark. Following right up on them were First timers Randy & Julie Green from Nevada, USA also joined by return client Anders Toterman from Finland. Then came our friends Todd & Janet Branson from Tomball, Houston Texas, USA on their second visit. Then Carsten & Rita Chrsitensen from Denmark that brought us up to a 14 day break to get caught up again before our next safari group.

Bent & Maiken Mortensen from Denmark below. Beautiful trophies and a happy client leaving us as a special friend!
Below is a few picks of Randy and Julie Green. Julie made herself famous here for her 4 day long waterbuck hunt which I am sure she will never forget! Randy was like a patient old lion who no one and nobody could upset.

Anders Totterman from Finland visited us a second time in two years. He opened up with a beautiful kudu bull, jus to end the trip with a monster scoring bull which he only dreamt of. Congratulations my friend…...you are a great shot and thank you for your support behind TG Safaris!

The thick brush generally led to hard hunting days, but we delivered some excellent concessive trophies, review a few of the trophies in this newsletter to see the suburb quality. I feel that I need to put the emphasis on how I feel about quality trophy hunting. Since I started my business TG / Trophy Game Safaris in ‘98 the quality of a hunt through my eyes were not measured by the size of a trophy, but in a sincere experience of a lifetime with your professional hunter, put it the best possible opportunistic hunting area by your outfitter where the combination of true friendship, a fair chase hunt and harvesting a majestic old animal to represent you time in Africa.

Janet Branson (Kudu Babe) with an exceptional Sable Bull! This was only her 3rd kill in Africa, but truly a well deserved trophy that left her with a unforgettable tale of the dark continent to pass on to her next generations!

We love to see the women get more and more involved in the sport of hunting, on the past hunts of 2009 we had two lady hunters who bagged some beauties!! Congratulations to Janet Branson (Kudu Babe) and Julie Green (Ms. Waterbuck)! You guys were great in camp and became great friends to us. We need to pass this legacy down to our children.
Most of our hunters harvest at least one or two exceptional trophies out of five with the rest average scoring trophies. We run our areas under great management systems, but every trophy cannot be a record. Every hunter hunting with us will see some great trophies and get the opportunity to harvest one with a great memorable hunt as hunting is meant to be.

Below is my old Friends Carsten & Rita Christensen from Denmark, he has made 6 trips out of 7 years. ….. And of course killed several warthogs on every trip! The Ivory Man! He holds the record for the largest largest warthog with TG Safaris and the same animals holds the no. 4 spot in Denmark which is the second larges wartohog there from SA in history.

To those clients still booked for the 2009 season, we can’t wait to host you. The season looks great with the prospects of what we have seen in the early season hunts. For the hunter booked in our 2010 season, thank you for your confidence in us….you have filled us to over 70% already and we hope this update helps to keep that hunting bug in you under control till it is your turn!!

Todd Branson (Toddo)
Great ambassador for us. This time round more an observer than hunter while his lady was doing the hunting. He did however bag three very nice animals with one exceptional scoring Tsessebi making the RW books with ease.

My Son Ruan Shot his first antelope specie with the motivation of Todd Branson in April.
This is a milestone for him in his life and all of us as hunters know how special that first one is!!
Congratulations my son! |
For those who don’t know it yet, Tom and Arno did their professional Hunters course in March and both passed with Arno being at the top of his class. A Great achievement and opportunity for their future. We are proud of them and continue to build our future with them big role players.
Chanelle. A new member to the TG Team as some of you may know from recent correspondence with us. She is here on long term plans and dedicated to learn our ways, so be patient with us as we teach her.
All I can say is good luck having to work for me Chanelle. I know I am not the easiest boss, but it is usually well worth it if your dedication is true. I really need the break of a PA !! |

Tianda our little ANGEL just turned 2 years old on April 30th!
The first seeds have been planted for the “Ivory Spa” at sand River Hills. For those of you that didn’t know this, my wife Amanda is not just Africa’s best cook, she is a qualified hair stylist and had her own salon when I met her 8 years ago and gave it all up for TG Safaris. She just passed her recent exams to qualify and open her own spa. Our plan is to start the salon spa end 2009 season and have it in place either beginning or end 2010. So let’s hope I get it done before the 2010 season. So watch out guys, we are going to walk and stalk your legs to jelly in 2010 so that you need a massage!! Just to give you a excuse…..

Tino and Amanda with our family & staff wish to send all of you our warmest regards from Africa!
In the Lord we trust!
